Rescue Efforts

Rescue Efforts

I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us. The creation waits in eager expectation for the sons of God to be revealed. For the creation was subjected to frustration, not by its own choice, but by the will of the one who subjected it, in hope that the creation itself will be liberated from its bondage to decay and brought into the glorious freedom of the children of God  (Romans 8:18-21, NIV).

Have you any prejudice against limitations and suffering? Do you fear the unknown? Have you faced off with depravity? Victories are not victories unless you have battled. Agony and ecstasy are the journey of liberty.

Dialogue with God is the necessary intervention. Approaching Him adds value to the diversity of experience. Being open to His perspective is part of that equation – which does require vulnerability and total honesty. Whatever is disclosed God is able to amend (alter, adjust, modify, revise; make changes, improvements, corrections) as we trust and obey. This truly is not about worsening but improving. It is about love being seen for what it is.

Love is enough and it is powerful for every limitation, every disaster – physical, emotional, mental, spiritual, social, relational, intellectual, and any other “al” you can think of.

I sense the Lord would remind us: ‘I am able to make all grace abound to you. I am able to fill you and meet your every requirement, every tragedy, shortcoming, imbalance, lack, heartache, hindrance, delay, and every sorrow you have known from all time. You will so love it when you are complete; in the meantime, you have everything you need for life and godliness. So for your life, today and for these moments remember I am your powerful provision.’

Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? As it is written: For your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered. No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord (Romans 8:34-39, NIV).

Most High and Almighty God we acknowledge that even in view of the tragedies witnessed in our world, like tsunamis , deception and wars, we declare our great need of YOUR powerful unfailing love. You alone are strength and a place of safety. We ask for your rescue efforts and protection against what seeks to destroy. Rise up and help we cry. We will sing about your power, your refuge and unfailing love, even in the day of distress!

Belief’s Benefit, Unbelief’s Detriment

God looks down from heaven on the entire human race; he looks to see if there is even one with real understanding, one who seeks for God  (Psalm 53:2 NLT).

What do you believe about God today? What are you asking, and for who?

Have you ever considered the sobering truth that to NOT believe God, reject Him, or treat Him with contempt is EQUAL to being disowned and destroyed by Him? There are serious consequences to unbelief! Fears are fulfilled, just read Numbers 14-15.

How long will these people reject me? Will they never believe me, even after all the miraculous signs I have done among them? I will disown them and destroy them with a plague (Numbers 14:11,12, NIV).

BELIEF, however, can MOVE the plans of God, always in keeping with His character!

Enter Moses, to PLEAD on their behalf. What will the Egyptians think when they hear about it? They know If you slaughter all these people, the nations that have heard of your fame will say, ‘The Lord was not able to bring them into the land he swore to give them, so he killed them in the wilderness.’ PLEASE, Lord, prove that your power is as great as you have claimed it to be; the LORD is slow to anger and rich in unfailing love, forgiving every kind of sin and rebellion. PLEASE pardon the sins of the people because of your magnificent, unfailing love, just as you have forgiven them ever since they left Egypt  (14:13-19, NIV).

The Lord ANSWERS. I will pardon them AS YOU have requested (14:20, NIV).

God will always honor belief and always dishonor unbelief.

But as surely as I live, and as surely as the earth is filled with the LORD’s glory, not one of these people will ever enter that land. They have seen my glorious presence and the miraculous signs I performed both in Egypt and in the wilderness, but again and again they tested me by refusing to listen. They will never even see the land I swore to give their ancestors. None of those who have treated me with contempt will enter it. BUT MY SERVANT CALEB IS DIFFERENT” (14:21-24).

BELIEF is the difference!!!

“Riches wont help on the Day of Judgment, but right living is a safeguard against death (Proverbs 11:4, NLT).

Heavenly Father, because of your mercy and grace PLEASE forgive our unbelief and help us believe by listening and obeying you. We stand on behalf of __________ asking you to save them because of your unfailing love and because you forgive EVERY KIND of sin. You are worthy of all our trust, our adoration and our praise.

Fortress of Refuge

Fortress of Refuge

“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging” (Psalm 46:1-3, NIV).

Let’s face it we tend to be forgetful and fearful people. Especially when feeling vulnerable and facing something that attempts to destroy us or someone we love!

Psalm 46 provides great reminders about who God is, especially when we face impossible times and troubles. God is present. He is strength. He is protection. He is a refuge and a fortress, oh so ready to help. Do we experience Him in this way? What does it take to do so? Every fortress requires a water supply. In this fortress of protection, He is also the river that brings joy to the city of our God, the sacred home of the Most High. God himself lives in that city that cannot be destroyed.

Three times in Psalm 46 we are reminded that He IS with us. Three times we are reminded that He IS our fortress, our refuge.

We live in Him, he lives in us to protect our encounter with life’s earthquakes hurricanes, storms, uproars or crumbles. Let’s not forget that our troubles are our invitation, opportunity and call to be still and know that He is God – and that we are not! We are to seek that stillness today and everyday – this is prayer.

As we seek YOU today dear Lord, may we truly rest in your help, strength, peace, presence, and protection so others will want to experience You too! Thank you for your help!

Right Now AND Past, Present, Future

Right Now AND Past, Present, Future

Long before he laid down earth’s foundations, he had us in mind, had settled on us as the focus of his love, to be made whole and holy by his love. Long, long ago he decided to adopt us into his family through Jesus Christ. (What pleasure he took in planning this!) He wanted us to enter into the celebration of his lavish gift-giving by the hand of his beloved Son” (Ephesians 4:1-6, MSG).

AS our Eternal, Heavenly Father lovingly looks at us, He sees us not just in the right now moment but all at once – past, present and future… without a time frame as we know it.

This awareness can really help us approach Him about our here and now. It can also help us listen with perspective, to cooperate for our greater joy and fulfillment. Remember, He purposed us in the first place to be the FOCUS of His love! We are HIS idea!!!

“Now that you have made me listen, I finally understand – you don’t require burnt offerings or sin offerings. Then I said, ‘Look, I have come. And this has been written about me in your scroll: I take joy in doing your will, my God, for your law is written on my heart’” (Psalm 40:6b-8 (NLT).

God we desire to glorify you. You are the Beginning and the End and you really know what’s best anyway!
